The Happenings

We are recording right now, and we are five strong (Chris, Danny, Erik, Logan, and Shawn for those of you keeping track). We have the first nearly-finished track up for listening at our myspace. We are playing at the Ballroom on May 22 as well. Look out for an upcoming album and some SHOPN sprees.

What’s happening right now

Right now we are breaking in our new bass player, Erik, formerly of Black Market Momentum and the John Galt Line. We have played one show with him, and it was great. We are playing March 3 at the Outland Ballroom with Mustangs and Madras (Denver), the Gunshy (Chicago), El Minotaur, and mcgill, and with Dead Commuter (Wichita) and El Minotaur at Grandpa’s House (675 S Kimbrough Ave) on March 29. We are going to start recording hopefully soon, and even more hopefully put something out on vinyl. For updates on our show schedule, check our myspace.

Thanks to everyone (especially Kelly, Kyle, and Gene) at the Cannabis Revival. It was great. Come check us this Saturday at the Outland Ballroom with Washington Irving (ex-Bogart and ex-Victims of Telephone), Architects, and Wildcat.

And, as always, show dates and music at the myspace page.

Coming along

We have the drum tracks (aka the hard part) done as far as recording is concerned. Now we just have to do every other part. The Andy Dufresne Chrises are starting a house venue, and we will be playing there June 27 and July 17. Go to http://www.myspace.com/shorthistories

Keep checking back, and we’ll keep delivering the news.

Changing Times

Here’s what’s going down in our world now. We are currently a three piece. It still is Danny and Shawn, and our friend Jason (Kaneda, Floob) is our new bass player/vocalist. This is a pretty solid line up, and 0ur old bass player Derrick has assumed the role of audio engineer/producer quite nicely. As soon as he receives a mixer that is on the way, we will start recording our new album. There are some upcoming tours and whatnot in the works, too.

For show details and some vocal-less live recordings of some new songs, go to http://www.myspace.com/shorthistories

Just an update

Firstly, if you’re visting this page through the News-Leader, then thank Michael Brothers. He’s good people.

Secondly, our tour EP is out. We have one song featured on the News-Leader Soundbytes page, and a couple featured on our myspace page. That’s http://www.myspace.com/theshorthistoriesofpowerf for anybody keeping track.

Also, Dillon from Modus Ponens/Hospice for the Stars is prolly going to be our new bassist.

Lastly, we are playing June 29 and July 4 at Billiards before we go on tour. Those dates and information are continuously updated on our myspace page. Even if Rupert Murdoch is an evil media-monger.

Summer time

And here’s what we have planned. We have a show on June 7 at Billiards, our CD release show June 16 at the Outland Ballroom, and a show on June 29 at Billiards. We will then be kicking off our tour July 8 through the 16th. Tell any friends you have in Chicago (Dekalb), Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New York City, Delaware, New Jersey, DC and Louisville.

CD information: it was recorded sans vocals in Trick’s studio. Brian Norris, the designer of this website, did a fantastic job on the art. It’s $3.

March schedule

It’s been a while, but we’ve been preparing for a busy march. We have upcoming shows on March 13, March 15, March 30 and April 1. We will also be finishing up the recording of our album in March. Also coming in March are four new songs that we’ve written, of which at least one or two will be played at our next show.

Keep checking back here or at our myspace page for updates.
